Meet the Band

Our Story
Originally the August Worship Band, then the August Worship Band and Friends, lifelong friend Luis Figueroa and the August brothers played for their community as a passionate hobby. Then, in early 2019, they decided to pursue their talents full-time and started The Fig Tree Band to share their music with the world. Since then, they have played at various community events, charities, and weddings, and have served as an opening act for the Cartoon Christmas Trio at the Dover Schwartz Center for two consecutive years. You can find upcoming concerts under the Upcoming Events tab. Follow our Facebook Page for more details!

Luis Figueroa
Lead Guitar
After learning a few chords from his mom at age nine, Luis developed a passion for guitar and all things music and went on to study Jazz at the University of Delaware under the well-known drummer Tom Palmer. Luis has played for charities, fundraisers, coffee houses, community events, Christmas concerts, birthday celebrations, weddings, and even for Frank Sinatra singer, Gary Anthony, at UD, displaying a love and talent for all things music. Despite his passion for Jazz, Luis strives to bring new elements to his music including Latin and Rock inspirations. While the electric guitar is his preferred instrument, Luis also plays acoustic, bass, drums, clarinet, cuatro, and charango.

Jeremiah August
Piano
Jeremiah, the eldest of the August brothers, fell in love with music around age three and began his lifelong passion after learning to play drums, then learning to play piano, where he found his niche. After learning music theory, Jeremiah began to play classical, jazz, contemporary, and gospel music. He has opened concerts for local artists, performed around the community as the August Worship Band, placed first at local and regional music competitions, received personal praise from Disney celebrities, and was accepted into world-renowned drumline Cold-Steel of North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University with only a year and a half of experience.

Elijah August
Bass
Elijah August, the brother of Joshua and Jeremiah August, is a versatile musician, aspiring artist, and producer. Playing his wide range of instruments, he has performed at events such as the Martin Luther King Jr. breakfast, commencements, weddings, and commercials. He was also elected leader of the trumpet section in the Dover High School band and continues to play trumpet and snare drum at Delaware State University. In The Fig Tree band, he is the bassist and sometimes he will sing. But no matter where he goes, he keeps the spirits high for his fellow band mates and the listening crowd.

Joshua August
Drums
Joshua August, brother of Elijah and Jeremiah August, started his music involvement as a child when his mother signed him up for piano lessons. After becoming acquainted with the art, he decided to pursue drumming at 8 years old. While in Secondary and High School, Josh learned all 40 rudiments in his school's band and became a skilled percussionist, playing a plethora of instruments. He became the lead jazz drummer of the Dover High School's Jazz Band during his senior year as well as the Drum Captain of DHS's Rolling Thunder Drumline. He was also in the All-State Jazz Band, branding him as one of the best High School drummers in the state.
